The operations CalGuard supported resulted in the record seizure of 62,224 pounds of fentanyl in 2023 — a 1066% increase since 2021.

California National Guard's Counterdrug Task Force seized 1,170,893 pills containing fentanyl and 986 pounds of fentanyl powder in May alone, and CA Gov. Gavin Newsom has more than doubled the deployment of CalGuard service members to combat the fentanyl crisis.
