California National Guard Seizes Record-breaking Amount of Fentanyl in May https://blackvoicenews.com/2024/06/30/california-fentanyl-seizures/ Sun, 30 Jun 2024 21:00:00 +0000 https://blackvoicenews.com/?p=244583 Last year, CA Governor Gavin Newsom increased the number of CalGuard service members deployed to interdict drugs at U.S. ports of entry along the border by approximately 50%. The operations CalGuard supported resulted in the record seizure of 62,224 pounds of fentanyl in 2023 — a 1066% increase since 2021.

California National Guard's Counterdrug Task Force seized 1,170,893 pills containing fentanyl and 986 pounds of fentanyl powder in May alone, and CA Gov. Gavin Newsom has more than doubled the deployment of CalGuard service members to combat the fentanyl crisis.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has proposed a bill that would allow Arizona providers to provide abortions in California in response to the Arizona Supreme Court's ruling upholding an 1864 abortion law, temporarily allowing licensed Arizona doctors to provide abortion and abortion-related care to Arizona patients traveling to California until November 30, 2024.
