The political pollsters are predicting a low voter turn out for this Tuesday’s election. They say it is because the two statewide candidates are incapable of generating excitement because their personalities do not engender charisma.

That might be true, but it is not a sufficient enough reason for African Americans to be turned off or stay at home on election day. We can never afford the luxury of not voting in this country because the stakes are always too high for us.
Witnessing Haitian’s jumping off boats into the ocean just to be in America, should be evidence enough for us to vote. When we hear that they will be placed in jail then placed on another boat and returned to Haiti just because of the color of their skin, is another reason to vote. When you hear that no other immigrant group is treated that way should be another reason to vote.
When we constantly see that African Americans have twice the unemployment rate as Whites, that’s another reason to vote. As a matter of enhancing our vote we should surely go and vote when others stay home. This has been the hallmark of the Republican party and Jewish community. They have made it a part of their “Have To Do” list and they vote regardless of the candidates or issues. They know practice makes perfect and consistency will eventually get the better candidate. They know that by voting it keeps you in the game.
So this Tuesday go out and vote and stay in the game. The Angels are world champions today because they believed they were still in the game regardless of the score.
