Dr. Hebert Fischer | Retired San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools

I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Gwendolyn Dowdy-Rodgers in her role as a parent, a successful business and community leader as well as the President of the San Bernardino City Unified School District Board of Education (SBCUSD), where she was recognized for her superior service to the 48,000 students, 8,000 staff members and to parents of the District.

As the former San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, I know the role that county board members have and know that at this time, it is critical to have Dr. Dowdy-Rodgers on the Board representing Area D, made up of the San Bernardino, Rialto and Snowline Districts.

Her background as a successful Board President will serve the County Board of Education well; she has demonstrated effective leadership during her tenure on the SBCUSD Board where she and board member Margaret Hill worked together to provide a strong academic focus while providing safe schools and an emphasis on career and college readiness for all of the students in the District.

On a personal note, I have had the privilege of knowing three generations of her family and know that her community involvement and leadership is built on the tradition of service that runs through the family now and in the past.

Besides serving with distinction on the Board of Education, her community involvement includes but is not limited to leadership at the Church of Living God, President of the Arrowhead United Way Board of Directors, Co-chair of the San Bernardino County Gangs and Drugs Task Force, member of the San Bernardino City Police Department African American Advisory Committee and many other service oriented organizations.   Additionally, she serves on staff at Uplift Services – Arrowhead, a mental behavioral health treatment program.

I strongly recommend that Dr. Gwen Dowdy-Rogers be elected to the San Bernardino County Board of Education.

Vote for Gwen!
